one of a few original and intact antique american oversized exterior chicago commercial building sill course panels comprised of pine wood with a nicely worn and weathered finish. design and fabrication of the fret-sawn wood panel is attributed to the baumer & slomer company, chicago, ills. the building was located on the near west side of chicago on grand avenue. the architect is not known. likely constructed during the 1870's. the massive panel features square nails, raised molding dentil work and a set of corbels or brackets with raised edges. smaller ornamental wood fragments are available from this salvage. measures 100 inches in length x 22 1/2 inches high x 6 1/2 inches in depth.
