massive early 20th century antique american interior mahogany wood office building door salvaged from the neoclassical style continental and commercial national bank building completed in 1914, the building was one of the last architectural commissions completed by chicago architect daniel burnham. even though burnham had died prior to the completion of the building, the 22 story bank building remained true to his original plans. this extant bank building is a significant early 20th century example of classical revival style architecture in downtown chicago. the bank building door retains the original oversized "glue chip" glass pane or inset set tightly within double-sided mitered joint trimwork. the original ornamental cast iron door hardware (i.e., knobs, escutcheons, vertical mailslot, etc.), contains a "rustproof" bower-barff finish. measures 83 x 40 3/4 inches.
