largely intact early 20th century american antique industrial folk art double-sided handheld city street flagger "stop" sign found in new york city. the crudely hand-painted circular sign contains bold black lettering against a largely white background. the border is outlined in black. the weathered and worn paddle sign is comprised of steel. the black enameled oak wood staff or handle is bolted tightly against the sign. likely fabricated by hand, within the streets an sanitation department. the flagger sign exhibits age-old surface wear from frequent handling outdoors. measures 16 inches in diameter.
