largely intact early 1930's american art deco style conway building elevator lobby wall-mount internally illuminated cast bronze informational panel with a single hinged door containing two black plate glass insets. the exact fabricator is not known. the flush mount "can" or light box originally contained directional arrows and/or indicated the assigned floors that various elevator cars would travel to and from. those informational panels were removed long ago and replaced with thick black glass insets. the nicely aged surface patina was left untouched. sockets for internal/backlighting remain intact. the conway building was developed by the marshall field estate, and named after conway, massachusetts - the birthplace of marshall field. the 22-story white terra cotta-clad neoclassical style building was completed in 1914. the architectural firm was d.h. burnham & co., with frederick p. dinkelberg as principal designer. the extant building was later renamed the burnham center. measures 17 x 8 1/2 x 2 inches.
