highly sought after c. 1940's vintage american industrial articulating arm "woodward" factory wall mount task lamp designed and fabricated in 1943 by william h. woodward of detroit, mi. the machine shop "utilight" articulating task lamp contains a simple solid steel wall bracket for securing the rigid steel post in any and all selective adjustments with a set screw. the unique adjustable joint is comprised of two circular friction plates interconnected by a single bolt, which with its nut, regulates the pressure mutually applied to the discs. sleeve type socket receives the adjustable arms containing the light source and upright post affixed to the "swing-out" cast iron arm featuring deeply embossed lettering. retains the original paddle or key socket. original reinforced cast aluminum "slim helmet" reflector. the industrial task lamp has been rewired with period appropriate yellow cloth cord wiring. cast iron and steel components have been carefully cleaned and treated with a cleat coat finish. all original and completely intact.
