largely intact original c. 1927 american wall-mount vitreous china or glazed ceramic water fountain designed and fabricated by the l. wolff company, chicago, il. the self-perpetuating fountain was mounted in a basement "smoking" or lounge room located within the extant lawndale theater (formerly known as the new yiddish theater and later renamed the rena theater). there were two identical fountains in the basement, surrounded by cast concrete lion heads and other ornamental treatment. the white glazed fountain features a nice curvaceous apron with rolled rim. the backsplash contains two holes for mounting purposes and a single, larger hole once containing the spigot. the nickel-plated drain plate or cover is original and intact. the fountains contains allover surface crazing. the west side chicago white terra cotta clad lawndale theater was designed by the architectural firm of r. levine & company and william p. whtiney. the theater closed in the 1950's and reopened as a church until recent times where it now is vacant and badly deteriorating. two matching fountains available. priced individually. measures 18 x 15 inches. Sink measures 14 1/2 x 18 inches.
