late 1930's american industrial "ever-hold" automatic adjustable height factory office stool manufactured by the kewaunee mfg. co., evanston, il. the unique telescoping office stool and/or chair contains a heavy gauge weighted steel four-legged base with original pressed steel swivel casters in working condition. the locking device is engaged by stepping down on the base and pulling the seat upwards to desired height. the solid birch wood saddle seat and contoured backrest retain the original varnished finish. the brushed steel base has been treated with a clear coat lacquer. maximum height 21 1/2 inches. manufacturer markings and detailed instructions found on the underside of the seat.
