original c. 1940's american industrial telescoping "adjustrite" enameled steel factory stool with a maple wood saddle seat. salvaged from an old chicago tool & die factory. the stool consists of two relatively movable members combined or overlapping for telescopic movement, with one of the members secured to the seat of the stool and other member secured to the legs and/or base of the stool. the coacting movable members function in such a way to lock the seat at various selected positions. the bent tubular steel legs retain the original steel disc shoes for added support and stability. both metal and wood components have been carefuly refinished and treated with a clear coat protective finish. fabricated by the adjusto equipment co., bowling green, oh. the first incarnation was designed and patented by james a campbell in the early 1940's. the tilting backrest is made of folded and pressed steel and is supported by two solid bent steel brackets (rods).
