hard to find and highly sought after 19th century antique american "thistle" pattern interior residential cast bronze oversized backplate and doorknob with nicely aged surface patina. the "sullivanesque" bronze metal hardware was fabricated by the chicago hardware company, chicago, ills. the design elements are attributed to louis h. sullivan and his auditorium theater and hotel completed by adler and sullivan in 1889.
