two matching early 20th century interior residential baseboard furnace registers designed and fabricated by the hess warming & ventilating co., tacoma building, chicago, il. the well-maintained grates retain the original highly desirable oxidized copper-plated finish over steel. the baseboard grates contain a single large louver with diminutive handle for opening or closing. the grille contains a simple square grid pattern finished in copper plating. the surrounds feature a "tiger stripe" finish. multiple pressed steel grates were salvaged from a chicago two-flat undergoing demolition. priced for the pair.
