rare c. 1850 vibrant deep sapphire blue multi-sided mineral water bottle manufactured for new york bottler john boardman. the slim body tapers into a long narrow neck with an intact applied tapered collar that exhibits slop and minor whittling. embossed vertically down alternating panels is "j. boardman & co / new york. / mineral water / this bottle to be returned". the base is rounded to a shallow kickup with some residue from manufacture with iron pontil. the base also exhibits worn but visible seams from a two-piece mold. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, and include whittling, minor surface wear, and some internal haze from having been dug. john boardman operated from approximately 1848-1857 at 368 and 890 broadway, in new york city. measures 7 inches in height.
