original and intact late 19th or possibly early 20th century solid varnished oak wood drop-down map or poster case or cabinet likely made by or for the denoyer-geppert company, chicago, ills. the cabinet contains a drop-down hinged door to allow for multiple rolls of maps to be pulled down for display. the cabinets were used in school classrooms, laboratories, and other institutions using anatomical maps or world maps. the cabinet is in great overall condition with original varnished finish intact. one of two available. this cabinet was salvaged from an old chicago public school laboratory.
