rare 1920s softcover catalog of ‘architectural grilles of perforated metal’ published for the diamond manufacturing co. of wyoming, pa. the slim staple-bound book was printed in 1928 by the smith-bennett corporation, and produced by trumbower advertisng agency, in wilkes-barre, pa. the embossed, metallic cover features a black and gold “union jack” design around the title, lettered in decorative typefaces characteristic of the period. the company states, “the use of metal grilles present a field widening in scope so rapidly that no attempt has been made to cover the complete range of designs or uses in this publication.” the 31 pages contain a selection of available designs, and general information on ordering. subtle pastel green and yellow ornaments border the title and images on each page. black and white photographs demonstrate the use of grilles in modern buildings and homes. the final section includes suggested specifications for architects and engineers. overall the catalog is intact and in good condition. the cover is chipped in the upper fore-edge corner, and gold color is rubbed on all edges including the spine.the back cover shows wear in the form of rubbing and slight creasing at the edge. measures 8 ½ x 11.
