original c. 1930's american depression era movie palace interior single-sided illuminated "ladies" restroom or lounge are sign. the darkly stained custom-built "can" or cabinet is comprised of solid maple with a detachable back pane for changing out the incandescent light bulb. the frosted glass panel retains the original baked black enameled graphic of a sitting woman positioned in front of a mirror. the word "ladies" is shadowed with uppercase letters. the panel was likely fabricated by or for sterling industries inc., philadelphia, pa. the panel was likely removed long ago from the original pressed and folded steel wall-mount can with light bulb socket. completely rewired and in working condition. 13 inches x 5 1/2 inches x 7 1/4 inches.
