hard to find and highly sought after original c.. 1920's patented benjamin "explosion" proof light fixtures repurposed into a double arm wall sconce. the matching set of highly desirable copper bulb guard fitters and/or socket housings were fabricated by benjamin electric mfg. co., chicago, il the impact-resistant incandescent bulb guards or "jars" are comprised of reinforced glass with threaded ends. the copper metal socket fittings are affixed to a custom made tubular copper double arm with cast iron flange used for mounting purposes. lightly incised manufacturer markings found on each fitter. these two fixtures were likely individual sconces or pendant light used in a grain elevator. the fixture has been rewired. measures approximately 12 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 13 inches.
