original c. 1950's vintage american industrial telescoping "adjustrite" enameled steel factory stool with a maple wood saddle seat. salvaged from an old chicago assembly plant. the stool consists of two relatively movable members combined or overlapping for telescopic movement, with one of the members secured to the seat of the stool and other member secured to the legs and/or base of the stool. the coacting movable members function in such a way to lock the seat at various selected positions. the bent tubular steel legs are reinforced by the original welded joint circular footrest. natural wear and tear left untouched to preserve the chair's aged surface patina. fabricated by the adjusto equipment co., bowling green, oh. the first incarnation was designed and patented by james a campbell in the early 1940's. measures 34 inches in height when fully extended. the tilting backrest is made of folded and pressed steel and is supported by two solid steel brackets (rods).
