very unique one of kind repurposed american industrial l-shaped corner sitting bench fabricated from salvaged residential framing sill plate beams containing mortise and tenon joinery. the robust solid yellow pine wood sill plate section are interlocked in the exact manner when placed together during the construction of the now-demolished house (1889). the notches were made for joining both studs and joists to the horizontal beams found at the foundation and second floor of the 19th century chicago residence. both beam ends were then cut down, sanded and sealed. the interconnected sill plate sections are supported by oversized old cast iron pipe with bulbous fittings. the cast iron pipes and joints have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. nearly a hundred similarly finished sill beam segments are available. in addition to benches, they make ideal display stands, table bases, and so on. call for pricing.
