very clean and unembellished repurposed antique american industrial stackable "transfer case" stationary side table with a newly added varnished solid mahogany wood tabletop. the pressed and folded cold-rolled steel sleeves and sliding drawers were designed (later patented) and fabricated by the van dorn iron works, cleveland, oh. van dorn was a very reputable firm known for their superior design and craftsmanship of all-steel office furniture. frank lloyd wright employed van dorn to fabricate his highly customized office furniture used throughout the (non-extant) larkin administration building, buffalo, ny. the riveted and welded joint double cabinet has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. excellent overall condition. measures 27 x 13 1/2 x 27 inches.
