very clean and curvaceous early 20th century cast iron shear and rod cutting factory machine base repurposed as a side table with the addition of old growth pine wood top and narrow undershelf. the unusually designed oversized cast iron bases were fabricated by the union mfg. co., new britain, ct. the matching machine bases feature outswept legs with vertical and horizontal flat bar stretchers providing added reinforcement. the iron has been brushed down to bare metal and treated with a clear coat lacquer. the wood shelves have been finely sanded and lightly stained. measures 43 x 13 x 41 inches.
