amazingly intact and well-maintained original late 19th or early 20th century antique american industrial portable ampere-meter with original varnished hardwood carrying instrument case. the weston meter was designed and fabricated by the weston electric instrument company, newark, nj. the portable meter is comprised of cast iron with the original nickel-plated finish. the arch top glass portal and indicator needle are original and intact. the "lava" knobs, cast brass terminals and cloth cord wiring are original to the meter. the nicely aged varnished hardwood portable instrument carrying case contains a fanciful polished nickel-plated plaque with lightly incised lettering. the leather strap handle contains wear consistent with age. the hinged cover contains a knob at the top edge to pull back for viewing the meter and accessing the opposed terminals. great overall condition, considering age.
