rare original and intact c. 1870's vibrant deep electric blue blob-top ginger ale bottle manufactured for james ray in savannah, georgia. the diminutive bottle resembles a citrate-shape in its narrow body, slightly rounded near the heel. the slim body tapers into a long, thin neck and intact applied tapered blobtop. at the neck is a slight line of wear with several iron deposits from where the wire bail rested. embossed vertically on opposite sides, crisp block-lettering reads "james ray / ginger ale". the base has concentric markings and a slight indent from manufacture with a two leaf mold. james ray was an irish grocer who moved to savannha in 1858 and became one of the town's most successful bottlers.
