one of two well-maintained 19th century interior residential oak wood residential box-shaped newel post accentuated with decorative rosettes. the varnished wood newel post is in great condition considering age. the salvaged chicago staircase newel was fabricated by c.j.l. meyer & sons company, chicago, ills. the matching turned oak wood spindles are offered in a separate listing.
