one of two similar antique american depression era industrial factory machinist four-legged stool designed and fabricated by the the chicago wire chair company, chicago, il. the structurally sound and stable factory stool contains a brushed and sanded bare metal finish sealed with a clear coat finish to prevent surface corrosion. the stool contains four stretchers with riveted joints for added reinforcement. the solid circular-shaped wood seat contains a darkly varnished finish. the feet are turned inward in a similar fashion to stools fabricated by the angle steel stool company. a shorter variation fabricated by the same manufacturer is available and was salvaged from the same machine shop. measures 11 1/4 x 11 1/4 x 30 1/4 inches.
