original depression-era vintage american industrial pressed and folded steel factory machine shop stool designed and fabricated by the lyon metallic mfg. co., aurora, ills. the green enameled stool with welded joint angled steel legs is structurally sound and stable. the stool was salvaged from the zim mfg. company factory. founded in 1919, the zim manufacturing company specialized in the manufacture of automobile specialty tools and gauges, housewares, and other hand tools. the extant factory is located on the far west side of chicago. several stools were salvaged from the zim factory. the footrest is structurally sound and stable. surface wear consistent with age.
