two matching nicely weathered and worn hard to find diminutive "x-ray" salvaged chicago green enameled light reflectors or shades executed by the curtis lighting company, chicago, ills. the two matching glass shades with textured exterior contain a silver nitrate interior finish. the uniquely-shaped shades were salvaged from a chicago factory machine shop equipped with multiple bench lights. priced for the pair. the first x-ray reflector was designed in 1897 by the curtis lighting company. the unique reflectors were hand-made from a special grade of glass, free from imperfections such as seeds, bubbles, and discoloration. the reflecting element applied to the outer surface of the glass is pure silver, completely protected by the glass on the inner side of the shade or reflector. the silver "armor" finish is a scientific process that was used in curtis research laboratories to keep "the silver bright."
