matching set of original and completely intact late 19th or early 20th century oversized cast iron trucks believed to have been used on massive steel tool cabinets. the manufacturer's name is located on the underside of each truck containing four non-swivel wheels or casters. designed and fabricated by the vandermann mfg. co., east hampton, conn. the two cast iron frames supported by the rolling casters are free from damage. the industrial trucks contain an older red paint finish. typical wear and tear consistent with age. the trucks are priced as a pair. the vandermann manufacturing company was established in 1878 by william vanderman and was located in willimantic ct. vandermann manufactured heavy steel tool chests used by the railroad, construction trade, pipe fitters,, etc. smaller chests were used by the wells fargo express company as "strong boxes" on their stagecoaches. in addition to tool cabinets and/or chests, vanderman was known for their combination bench and pipe vises used in the steam fitting trade.
