original c. 1930's vintage american industrial green porcelain enameled factory pendant light designed and fabricated by or for the benjamin electric mfg. co., chicago, il. the uniquely-shaped deep bowl reflector features a bulbous dome with flared skirt or rim. the underside contains an impact resistant threaded glass "jar" or bulb guard, completely enclosing the source of illumination. the reflective white porcelain finish remains largely intact. the reinforced metal socket housing contains two opposed threaded galvanized steel pipes with cast iron flanges. salvaged from a chicago tool and die factory complex undergoing demolition. measures 21 inches in height and 16 inches in diameter.
