original mid-19th century intact privy-dug aqua blue soda bottle with applied tapered collar manufactured for j. cairns, in st. louis, mo. the front body is embossed with caseworn lettering reading the name and city of the bottler. the long sloping neck is finished with a tapered collar that has some slop, and concentric whittling marks. the base has a deeply rounded base and pointed kickup that retains a heavy dark grey residue from manufacture with iron pontil. the back of the glass features a highly unusual straw mark that appears as a looping hair-like line lodged in the glass. crudities typical of its age and date of manufacture include bubbles, straw marks, and some discoloration.
