remarkably rare and all original early 1880's antique american aesthetic movement residential vestibule door hardware salvaged from a stately home in grand rapids, mich. the ango-japanese style hardware was designed and fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the lockset consists of two matching doorknobs, backplates, and single mortise lock with matching strike plate. the pattern used on the strike and mortise lock faceplate were also found on the faceplates of the pocket door hardware. the exceptional figural "geisha girl" doorknobs with beaded borders are concave with festive parasols used as field patterns. the backplates contain figural geisha girls with fans, bamboo and other distinctive designed motifs. the original keyhole covers are intact. the dead and mortise bolts are in great condition. the hardware has not been cleaned. the darkened patina was left untouched, likely since the time of installation. priced for the complete set.
