odd and unusual early 20th century ornamental cast bronze french door lever handle salvaged from a university of chicago building during renovations. the figural door handle or lever features a detailed aquatic sea creature with curvaceous tail and scaly skin. a nicely aged surface with a partially intact gold leaf finish was left untouched. possibly manufactured by yale & towne or the sargent hardware company. measures 4 x 3 x 1 1/2 inches.
