wilcox mfg. co., aurora, ills.
matching set of original and intact 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential pocket door hangers designed and fabricated for the wilcox mfg. co., aurora, ills. a total of twelve pocket door hangers were salvaged from a chicago three-flat built between 1881-1886. the pocket door hardware remains in excellent condition, considering age. the grooved edge spoked wheels or rollers originally moved along a wood track built above the pockets. the brackets contain both a patent date and foliated scrollwork. the latter is quite impressive, considering the fact that the pocket door hardware was never meant to be viewed and or appreciated. it just goes to show that the craftsmanship during that time was incredibly important on all levels. the price reflects the set shown in the primary image. original surface patina. lightly dusted, cleaned and oiled.
