late 19th or early 20th century original and intact hard to find antique american ornamental cast iron interior commercial building flush mount floor furnace grate or grille deigned and fabricated by the ferrosteel co., chicago, il. the distinctive "moorish pattern" grille or grate contains a mostly uniform black paint finish. the grate is comprised largely of "ferroalloy", which contains various alloys of iron with a high proportion of one or more other elements. the oversized flat metal great was salvaged from a chicago commercial building prior to demolition. 29 inches x 29 inches.
