original 19th century salvaged chicago quartered oak wood interior residential fireplace mantel designed and executed by charles lorenzen and company, chicago, ills. the solidly built fireplace mantel features two solid fluted columns topped with ionic style capitals. the frieze features a four-sided decorative border comprised of neoclassical motifs. the mantel's finish is original and in great shape considering age.
