all original 19th century salvaged chicago solid oak wood fireplace mantel designed and fabricated by the foster-munger company, chicago, ills. the darkly varnished half-mantel contains two turned and tapered columns or posts supporting the shelf. the structurally sound and stable mantel is in good overall condition.
