remarkable, museum-quality iconic c. 1933-35 original and largely intact american art deco depression-era richly colored cocktail serving tray. the exact designer and/or fabricator is not known. the very rare and seldom found jazz-age serving tray is often found in museums collections and depicted in leading art deco reference books.the art deco tray is comprised of plated or chromed metal, painted glass and wood. the rectangular-shaped tray features a visually distinctive reverse painted glass abstract geometric design in black, red, and ivory. the tray's outer edges are cased in chromed metal with a gallery consisting of two short cylindrical posts flanking cylindrical wood handles accentuated with chromed ends. a thin circular-shaped steel rod runs along the perimeter of the gallery through holes in the upright posts. the underside of the tray is wood-grain composite board with no markings found. pitting on the chrome finish evident. loss of enamel found primarily on the right side. the design elements on the left remain in great shape. the serving tray measures 18 1/16 x 12 1/16.
