single refinished and fully functional c. 1870's flush mount ornamental brushed iron grille or grate designed and fabricated by the tuttle & bailey mfg., co., new york city, ny. the exceptionally ornate and well-maintained ventilation register or grate retains the original pivoting louvers controlled by a threaded lever or "thumb" wheel. the salvaged chicago grate was salvaged from a chicago church building undergoing demolition. several wall and floor grates were carefully removed from the wall and ceiling of the church building. the ornamental grill contains a brushed metal finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer.
