single 19th century highly desirable american eastlake style entrance door escutcheon or backplate designed and fabricated by the branford lock works, branford, ct. the "oriental" pattern doorknob backplate contains a wrought bronze collar or thimble, along with two keyhole escutcheons. small traces of the original baked black enameled inlay remains intact. measures 1 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches.
