19th century american ornamental cast brass interior residential "star" pattern passage size doorknob designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the original and intact banded rim doorknob was salvaged from the extant david c. cook residence, located in elgin, il. the doorknob contains a six-pointed star surrounded by a repeating palmette motif. black enameled inlay added to accentuate the casting detail. measures approximately 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
