original c. 1885 american eastlake style "ivy" pattern interior residential drum-shaped doorknob designed and patented by john j. kennedy of branford, ct. the ornamental cast brass doorknobs contain a mostly uniform surface patina. the richly textured ivy leaf field pattern is clear and crisp. the doorknobs were salvaged from the david c. cook mansion, located in elgin, il. the ivy pattern hardware was used on the first floor only. fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. measure approximately 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
