late 19th century original and intact american antique douglas fir or yellow pine wood a-frame painters' ladder salvaged from an old chicago restaurant decorator supply company. the "old reliable" ladder was designed and manufactured by the goshen mfg. co., goshen, ind. the ladder's intact rungs are reinforced with steel tie rods that contain cast iron rosettes along the stringers or rails. the underside of the topmost platform contains a unique cast iron bracket and/or hinge for added stability. the remarkable patina, with over a hundred years worth of paint drops, wear and tear has been lightly cleaned, but left largely untouched. measures 18 1/2 x 37 x 56 inches.
