original and completely intact c. 1885 american eastlake style ornamental cast brass "oriental" pattern residential shutter door latch designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the shutter door hardware was salvaged from the david c. cook mansion, built at a price of 10,000 dollars in 1884-85. the matching decorative catch is original. fully functional shutter bar. this hardware pattern was used exclusively on the second floor bedroom window shutters. measures approximately 2 x 2 inches.
