19th century original interior residential wood or coal burning fireplace cast iron surround with matching summer cover designed and fabricated by bridgeford & company, louisville, ky. the cover and surround have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the flared top cover retains the original pressed steel knob or handle. the hooded surround features light embossed intricate leafage. the summer cover contains a centrally located torch with laurel wrath and flowing ribbons. great overall condition. free from cracks or breaks. measures 24 1/2 x 3 x 30 1/2 inches.
