all original and intact antique american industrial freestanding yellow brass flexible gooseneck arm table or desk lamp fabricated by the faries mfg. co., decatur, il. the fully adjustable incandescent portable lamp contains a solid bronze plaque that reads "property of the british government" in the form of lightly incised lettering. the lamp may have been used by the packard motor car company. the weighted base is comprised largely of cast iron with spun brass base plate. the paulding paddle key socket contains a completely intact "adjusco-loc" enclosure. the stamped brass dome-shaped reflector or shade retains the original nicely aged surface patina. the portable faries lamp has been rewired with period appropriate lamp cord. shade measures 6 inches in diameter, arm is 18 inches in height.
