partially intact c. 1900's american antique industrial revolving seat switchboard operator stationary stool attributed to the thonet brothers of new york city, ny. the distinctive bent wood four-legged base with outswept legs retains the original heel ring or footrest supported by bent wood brackets. the centrally located cast iron cradle or hub with original baked black enameled finish, contains the revolving threaded solid steel spindle the supports the spacious circular-shaped seat. the woven rattan was either badly damaged or removed long ago and replaced with a newer mahogany or birch wood seat. the backrest was removed at some unknown point in time. the condition of the existing components is good, considering age. the stool seat moves up and down by rotating the seat. original stained or varnished finish (with the exception of the seat). measures approximately 17 x 17 inches with an adjustable height ranging from 20 - 26 inches.
