rare antique early 20th century two-tone salt glazed stoneware diminutive advertising jug with swan neck handle stamped in black ink on the body for a small business in chicago. inside a single lined square, the stamp reads "s. spira/ wines & liquors/234 north centre ave./chicago." crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture. allover crazing evident. the unearthed advertising jug likely held wine, cider etc. these small vessels were often given away as gifts during the holidays.
