rare and hard to find early "safety first" american industrial factory sign fabricated by the stonehouse steel sign company, denver, co. the single-sided die cut steel sign features the distinctive "halting hand" logo containing the words "safety first." the porcelain enameled sign was salvaged from an old general electric assembly plant full-body safety shower. surface rust and loss of porcelain evident. the "halting hand" logo was copyrighted in 1912 by j. w. stonehouse. measures 20 x 9 inches.
