heavily reinforced american industrial stationary repurposed coffee table or sitting bench supported by to two identical early 20th century ceiling mount pulley shaft hangers salvaged from an old chicago punch press factory machine shop. the solid steel rod or shaft contained a series of hardwood pulleys used in conjunction with south bend lathe flat drive leather belts. the set of mounting brackets were fabricated by the bond foundry & machinery co., manheim, pa. the newly added table top is comprised of refinished quartered oak wood tongue and groove floor boards salvaged from the chicago athletic association building (designed by architect henry ives cobb). the mitered joint edges or apron provide additional stabilization and security. the cast iron bases have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures approximately 40 x 16 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches.
