all original and intact late 19th century antique american salvaged chicago hand-carved solid oak wood staircase newel post endcap or finial. the exact fabricator is not known. the oak wood finial was salvaged from a downtown chicago commercial or club building. the original varnished finish is mostly uniform and nicely aged. the intricate carving is found on all four sides of the finial. only one available.
