original 19th century antique american quarter-sawn oak wood turned newel post finial possibly fabricated by the foster-munger company, chicago, ills. the original finish remains largely intact. the salvaged chicago house, built in 1895, was demolished in 2017. the finely turned newel cap features hand-carved leafage surrounding the ball finial with ringed-base. great overall condition, considering age.
