late 1940's vintage industrial original analog american electric wall clock containing a functional single phase synchronous motor with original cord and plug. the frame of the square-shaped clock is comprised of steel with largely intact metallic silver enameled finish. the clock face features unique deco style black numbers and/or incremental markings. hour, minute and sweeping red second hand original and intact. manufactured by the sessions clock co., forestville, conn. measures 11 1/2 inches sqaure by 3 inches in depth. the sessions clock company was organized in 1903 by founder william e. sessions. the firm produced all components of their line of clocks, including movements, cases, dials, artwork and castings. sessions realized that the future of clockmaking was moving to electricity so, in 1930, the company expanded to produce electric clocks, timers for radios, televisions and other devices. they also continued to manufacture traditional brass mechanical movements. in 1956, sessions clock co. was absorbed by a company interested primarily in their timing devices. kept as the sessions company, the new owners ran the firm until 1969, when a decline in business forced its liquidation.
